Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav was arrested by the Noida Police on Sunday in connection with the snake venom rave party case. Elvish has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Here’s what we know about this case so far.

Why did Noida Police arrest Elvish Yadav?

Big Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav has been sent to a 14-day judicial custody, in connection with the snake venom rave party case. He and five other people were charged under the Wildlife Act in Noida for arranging the sale of snake venom during a party for use as a recreational drug last year. The 26-year-old YouTuber is accused of supplying snake venom for the event, which took place on November 3, 2023, at a banquet hall in Sector 51, Noida. The presence of snake venom in samples taken from the party was verified by forensic reports. In addition to rave parties, Elvish was allegedly using snakes for video shoots. The popular YouTuber has several snake-themed videos on his channel.

How was the snake venom rave party gang caught?

The animal rights organisation, PFA (People For Animals), led by BJP leader Maneka Gandhi, called Elvish Yadav anonymously after she saw videos of the YouTuber. They requested that he supply snakes and the venom. The 26-year-old is said to have provided the phone number of Rahul, who invited them to the banquet in Sector 51, Noida. The PFA team discovered nine snakes—including five cobras—and 20 ml of snake poison there, along with four snake charmers, Jaikaran, Titunath, Narayan, and Ravinath. Subsequently, a team from the Noida Police and Forest Department was sent in, and everyone was taken into custody.

Elvish Yadav refutes the allegations

Elvish denied all the allegations levelled against him, terming the charges ‘Baseless, fake and not even 1 per cent true’.

Earlier, the police had stated that they were investigating his involvement in the entire case and that he was not shown at the party hall. On the other hand, Maneka Gandhi demanded Elvish’s immediate arrest, accusing him of being involved in the illicit sale of snake venom. Maneka Gandhi had said then, “He (Elvish Yadav) has escaped for now but his arrest should definitely take place.”
