While it may be a few days since actor (now also politician) Vijay announced his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam , scores of fans have been trending on the topic on social media, inviting mixed feelings about the actor's decision.

In response to this, the actor shared a thank you note, extending his gratitude for the support he received by his fans and public upon his political entry.

What did Vijay write in the note?

In his note, Vijay wrote, "I profusely thank from the bottom of my heart respected leaders of various political parties, beloved film fraternity friends, affectionate brothers, sisters, and mothers of Tamil Nadu, my dearest and always encouraging media friends, last but not the least, my huge pillar of support "En Nenjil Kudiyirukkuma Thozhargal" for wishing me on my new political journey for the welfare and victory of Tamil Nadu.”

The actor’s party will be contesting the 2026 Assembly elections, while crediting Vijay as the party president. However, it is not revealed if Vijay will contest the elections. It is to be noted Vijay is joining the slew of Tamil actors who took the political plunge, like MG Ramachandran, J Jayalalitha, Vijayakanth, Udhayanidhi Stalin, to name a few.

Vijay’s cinematic journey ahead:

The actor was last seen in Leo under Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction. He will be next seen in GOAT-Greatest of All Time, directed by Venkat Prabhu. The makers had released the posters for the film, suggesting that the actor would appear in two roles, one young and one old.

With the actor entering politics, one needs to wait and see if Vijay will continue acting in films or resign himself to a full-fledged political life. There are also speculations that Vijay will do one more film after GOAT, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69.

Vijay’s decision to enter politics have been met with mixed reactions. While a section of fans rue that they will miss out on seeing their favourite star onscreen, others have rejoiced to his new journey and continue to celebrate him.
