Ali Merchant has entered Lock Upp and his ex-wife Sara Khan, who is a co-contestant on the show, accused him of knowing she is a part of Kangana Ranaut’s show and still entering as a wild card contestant. Ali had avoided justifying himself to Sara but we at OTTplay did ask him if he was actually aware about Sara being a part of the show before signing the dotted line. The actor said that he had no idea but took a guess that the makers would plan something like that.
“I had no idea about Sara being on the show. I was assuming that they might add such an angle,” he said.
Ali has gone on the show prepared to face her. He confirmed that by sharing, “Honestly, I didn’t care because like I told you, I was waiting for something like this show for a very long time. When I got the opportunity, I was totally prepared.”
Not just that, the actor-turned-DJ did feel like he and Sara should come face-to-face on a reality show, given their history of reality shows. For the uninitiated, Ali got married to Sara Khan in Bigg Boss 4. The show became an instant hit thanks to their decision. Now, both Sara and Ali have spoken about their situation around the wedding and divorce when they are in Lock Upp. After the divorce, Ali, who was previously an actor, took up DJing.
“I would think that we should face each other at a given point of time so we can clear things up. I did not speak much back then because I have a theatre background – I don’t like anything apart from art,” he said.
Ali then hinted about his decision and spoke about how he looks at stardom. “Somebody can be a star today and be nothing tomorrow. So that doesn’t matter. Star is what destiny makes you but an art and artist define you. I want to learn and understand more in life through that medium. If somebody else doesn’t want to understand that, then they have a problem,” he shared.
