Exclusive! Jamtara 2 director Soumendra Padhi REVEALS why new characters are introduced in season 2

The clock is ticking for the premiere of the second season of the much-awaited web series Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega. The trailer for the second season has already generated a lot of curiosity around the narrative that amplifies every emotion of all the characters, be it Brajesh Bhaan, Gudiya Singh, Sunny, Rockey, and more. On top of that, the introduction of another female character Ganga Devi, played by veteran actress Seema Pahwa makes the audience wonder how her character brings a twist to the tale.

In conversation with OTTplay, the creator and director of the show Soumendra Padhi, unveils more.

When asked about his thoughts behind introducing new characters in the show, Soumendra told OTTplay, "We have been going by the narrative. All the existing characters were demanding more characters to come into the picture, so basically it is the demand of the story."

Elaborating on the point, the director further added, " For instance, Brajesh Bhaan wants to expand his phishing business and continue his legacy, for that he would need a new commander. Sunny wanted to help Gudiya in the election so he would recruit more young students, so we introduced new characters there. Also, in the last season, we have seen how the business is growing. Whenever a venture is successful, everyone wants a piece of the pie from it. Until now, Brajesh Bhaan's buaji was staying behind but now, even she wants a share of money from it! So her character is coming in front. That is how, the driving force behind introducing new characters in the upcoming season."

Set in a small town of Jamtara, the first season shows how with the easy access of free SIM cards, a bunch of young students who are deprived of everything basic, be it having a dream of a great future and job opportunity, respect in society or even basic needs of living - decide to take up phishing as business to earn money. As they get into the nexus of phishing, start earning money and enjoy participating in the crime, more players get involved in the process, from local politicians to police administration, 

The second season starts from where the story ends in the first, as the principal characters of the show - Gudiya, Sunny, Rockey, Brajesh set their sights on expanding the phishing business while everyone is looking for a chance to take a slice of the cake.

Consisting of ten episodes, Jamtara: Season 2, featuring - Amit Sial, Sparsh Shrivastav, Anshumaan Pushkar, Monika Panwar, Seema Pahwa among others - releases on Netflix on September 23.
