A popular radio jockey who forayed into films and then web series, Abhilash Thapliyal has quickly secured space for himself as an actor.

The RJ-turned-actor, who made his acting debut with Dil Juunglee, received a lot of praise for his recent performances in the web series Faadu - A Love Story and the Taapsee Pannu film Blurr.

He has also been a part of the web series TVF Aspirants, SK Sir ki Classes, and Raksha Bandhan, and will be soon seen in the Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan, which is directed by Amit Sharma.

Considering that he has managed to do so much good work in such a short span of time, Abhilash was awarded the Most Promising Star of the Year (Male) trophy at the recently-held OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023.

Having been a radio jockey, Abhilash has a way with words, and that is something that the audience at the awards night got treated to.

After receiving his maiden award for acting, Abhilash, who is from Uttrakhand's Pauri Garhwal, said that he came to Mumbai with small dreams. He then gave advice to all those who are looking to make it big in the form of poetry, receiving an enthusiastic round of applause from the audience.

Abhilash said, "Thank you, OTTplay, for this is my first award for acting. I came to this big city with small dreams. Many times, when we start to move ahead in life, we experience a lot of commotion. To those people who are trying to fulfil their dreams, I want to say this:
Peet peeche kahenge log, toh aankhon mein nami mat lana Ladte rehna, badhna aage, tu apni koshisho mein kami mat lana (Don’t have tears in your eyes if people talk behind your back Keep fighting and moving ahead, and never stop trying)"
