Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil's multilingual project Dhoomam was officially launched on October 9 in a special muhurtha ceremony. The Hombale Films production will be a multilingual release with director Pawan Kumar (Lucia, U-Turn) at the helm - the core team of the production along with lead stars Fahadh Faasil and Aparna Balamurali were in attendance at the launch event.
Also seen as a special addition to the intimate event was the prominent Hombale member Prashanth Neel who was seen interacting with Fahadh Faasil and Aparna Balamurali. Aside from Pawan Kumar and producer Vijay Kiragandur, Dhoomam's cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, executive producer Vijay Subramaniam, music composer Poornachandra Tejaswi, and many other integral members of Team Dhoomam were seen at the event.
Aparna Balamurali, who won the National Award for Best Actress for her amazing portrayal in Soorarai Pottru, too shall make her Kannada debut with Dhoomam. Also starring in the film is Malayalam-Hindi actor Roshan Mathew.
Dhoomam is based on a script that Pawan Kumar had written almost a decade-and-a-half ago as 'C10H14N2', an idea based on nicotine and certain interest aspects related to smoking with the non-smoker in writer-director Pawan Kumar sharing his point-of-view. The project first gained traction after Pawan announced the title and the first glimpse after Lucia but the film could not take off at the time for reasons unknown.
Reportedly, the filmmaker took it to floors in 2020 with a confirmed script and central cast but the pandemic played spoilsport and the project was back-burnered yet again. However, thanks to the budding relationship between Pawan Kumar and Hombale Films that the script finally found solid backing and eventually saw the light of day as Dhoomam. The film is expected to go on floors on November 2, 2022.
