December 19, 2024, is the last day fans can watch Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore on Netflix. Beginning December 20, 2024, the 2022 fantasy finds a new home on OTT, and that is JioCinema (OTTplay Premium). David Yates helmed Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore from a script written by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves, who were themselves based on Rowling's screenplay. In addition to being the 11th film in the Wizarding World series, this 2018 sequel to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald marks the third and final installment in the Fantastic Beasts film series. Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Katherine Waterston, and Mads Mikkelsen are all part of the ensemble cast.

Synopsis

The plot picks up a few years after the events of the previous film when Albus Dumbledore sends Newt Scamander and his companions on a mission deep into the clutches of the evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald's army. Gellert Grindelwald, played by Mikkelsen, is plotting to take over the wizarding world, and Professor Albus Dumbledore, played by Law, is aware of this. Because he knows he can't defeat Grindelwald on his own, he sends Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Redmayne) on a perilous expedition with a courageous band of wizards, witches, and a single courageous Muggle baker. Along the way, they face both familiar and unfamiliar monsters, as well as Grindelwald's ever-increasing legion of supporters. With everything on the line, how much longer can Dumbledore afford to sit on the bench?

Casting changes

The film's original release date was November 2020; however, the COVID-19 epidemic caused its postponement to July 2022. In March 2020, many of the primary actors from the first two films announced their involvement. The pandemic postponed the commencement of principal photography, initially planned for early 2020, and it ultimately commenced in September of the same year. Following Johnny Depp's resignation in November 2020 due to the ruling in the "Depp v News Group Newspapers Ltd" court case, Mads Mikkelsen assumed his role. Depp had previously portrayed Grindelwald in earlier films, and he had filmed a sequence for the film.

The film was the lowest-grossing installment in the Wizarding World series, earning over $407 million globally despite critical ambivalence.
