1899 cancelled by Netflix

Netflix has come under scrutiny in recent years for cancelling several fan-favourites. And 2023 looks to be no different with yet another original being axed from the streaming platform. 1899, the new sci-fi series from the creators of the universally-acclaimed German series Dark, has been cancelled after just one season. Fans of the series will be disappointed considering season one ended in a cliffhanger. Creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar confirmed the news on social media in a joint statement and shared their dismay at not being able to fulfil their vision for the story. As they say, some mysteries are never meant to be solved.

Assassin's Creed TV series loses its showrunner

2023 could be a massive year for video game adaptations with several new shows such as The Last of Us, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Warhammer 40,000, Fallout, and Assassins Creed. However, the production of Assassin's Creed appears to have hit a speed bump after reports emerged that showrunner Jeb Stuart has left the project. No further details regarding the departure and the future of the series have been shared by Netflix.

Rashmika Mandanna replaced by Shanaya Kapoor in Screw Dheela

Tiger Shroff’s upcoming film Screw Dheela, helmed by Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania director Shashank Khaitan, has a major replacement. As it turns out, Rashmika Mandana, who was to play the film’s leading lady, has dropped out of the project and has been replaced by Shanaya Kapoor. While Kapoor is yet to officially sign the deal, those close to the project are certain of this development. The film is set to be an action entertainer backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions banner.

Jeremy Renner out of surgery but remains in critical condition

Hollywood star Jeremy Renner, who was involved in a horrifying accident while clearing snow outside his home in Nevada, has completed his surgery. However, the Avengers star remains in critical condition after suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. We’re sending in our prayers across for Renner and hope that our Hawkeye manages to pull through.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has not departed upcoming series Citadel

Several reports had earlier indicated that actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu had stepped away from the upcoming spy series Citadel due to health concerns. However, more recent reports suggest that the actress is still scheduled to star in the series in the second half of January. She is expected to play the lead alongside Varun Dhawan in the Amazon Prime series.

Vijay Sethupathi and Sundeep Kishan film Michael gets release date

The highly anticipated pan-India Telugu film, Michael, starring Sundeep Kishan and Vijay Sethupathi has finally closed on a release date. The Ranjit Jeyakodi directorial will also feature Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Gautham Vasudev Menon in prominent roles. Michael is expected to be an action thriller and will hit theatres on February 3, 2023 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
