Gadar 2 trailer launch: Initially, many advised me against doing the film and had even called Gadar as gutter, REVEALS Ameesha Patel

The much-awaited trailer launch of ‘Gadar 2’ has finally been released today amidst much fanfare. The ‘Gadar 2’ trailer was released today, which also happens to be the occasion of ‘Kargil Vijay Divas’. The trailer was launched at a grand event attended by Anil Sharma, Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Shariq Patel, Simrat Kaur, Mithoon, Alka Yagnik, Jubin Nautiyal and Aditya Narayan.

Speaking at the trailer launch, Ameesha Patel revealed a shocking fact about a handful of celebrities, who had initially warmed her from doing the film. She also showed her gratitude towards her ‘best co-star’ Sunny Deol and the film’s director Anil Sharma. Ameesha Patel said, “I thank the best co-star of mine Sunny ji (Sunny Deol). He is such a person that, even if someone would have told me to become a tree (the way we do in dramas), I would have still accepted that role. Anilji (Anil Sharma), when told me the story of the first ‘Gadar’, and Nitin Keni had approached me, at that time, many well-known celebrities from the film industry whose names I do not want to take now. Everyone questioned me about the kind of role that the film had for me. I was doing a film with Salman Khan where I was playing a college student, I was doing a film with Ajay Devgn, where he was playing the professor. I was doing two films with Hrithik Roshan Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Aap Mujhe Achhe Lagne Lage”.

She continued, “That was the time when ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ had not been released. Many said that I won’t be able to do mother’s role. Since I love challenges, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and accepted the role as a challenge. I had faith on my director (Anil Sharma). I knew that he was brilliant. I had to say yes to such a beautiful love story. Yes, it was a bit difficult in the initial beginning, but Anil ji used to sit with me patiently for my looks so that I should not look like a college student and should look like a mature woman. He sat with me on the dialogues for six months”.

Ameesha Patel summed it up saying, “Initially, there were times when people used to call ‘Gadar’ as gutter. And when there was the call for ‘Gadar 2’, yet again, many started questioning that, how can he ‘Lazy Lamhe’ girl play the role of a mother of a 20-year-old! Yet again I was faced with the same challenge. But, all thanks to my director, my fabulous make up team. We used to do look test for as many as 20 hours! And when we were successful in finalising the look test, my fabulous director Anil ji messaged me saying., “My beautiful Sakina is back”.

Besides Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, ‘Gadar 2’ also stars Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa, and Gaurav Chopra in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Zee Studios, Anil Sharma Productions and M M Moviez. The film has been scheduled for a theatrical release on August 11 this year.
