Gayatri Joshi, husband Vikas Oberoi return to India post car crash – details on the prima facie case inside

Actress Gayatri Joshi and her husband Vikas Oberoi are now back to India. They had suffered a car crash in Italy recently . Vikas was under investigation since he was driving one of the cars which left two Swiss Nationals dead. We now hear that there was no prima facie case against him. CNBC TV-18 reports that the Chairman and MD of Oberoi Realty did not face prima facie case after the fatal crash from Monday. He could have faced seven years in jail if found guilty in the ‘double road homicide.’

The car crash

A video of two luxury cars – Lamborghini and Ferrari – crashing, had gone viral. The Swiss couple Markus Krautli and Melissa Krautli died in the accident. The Italian publication L'Unione Sarda reported that Vikas was driving the blue Lamborghini Huracan. The roof of the car reportedly went missing in the crash but Gayatri and Vikas remained unharmed.

A press statement released by Oberoi Realty confirmed the accident and return. “Our chairman and managing director Mr Vikas Oberoi and his wife Mrs Gayatri Oberoi had met with accident in Sardinia, Italy on 2nd October 2023. By God's grace they both are unhurt and have returned back home to Mumbai safely,” it read. Before that, Gayatri had confirmed to Free Press Journal that she and her husband were absolutely fine after the road crash.

Who exactly is Vikas Oberoi?

Vikas runs Mumbai-listed Oberoi Realty. As the name suggests, it deals with sale of high-end condos. Apart from that, Vikas owns a Westin hotel in the city. He is reportedly also building a mall, hotel and office tower in midtown Mumbai. Vikas’ current net worth is approximately USD 3.7 billion.
