“Hey, peaches! We have big news – we have a season 2!” – that’s how the cast of Netflix‘s comedy-drama series Ginny & Georgia announced their return for the sophomore season through a video.

The cast’s announcement generated buzz on social media among fans of the show, which dropped earlier this year in February and held the top slot on Netflix’s Top 10 list in the US.

The show follows the life of 15-year-old Ginny (Antonia Gentry), who feels she doesn’t measure up to her 30-year-old mother Georgia (Brianne Howey), who decides to finally settle down in New England with her children to give them a better life than she had.

The second season of the show will once again have 10 episodes and will address the finale’s cliffhanger that had Georgia on top of the world while Ginny was down in the dumps. Netflix is yet to declare the release date of the upcoming season, which is expected to premiere only in late 2022.

The show, meanwhile, had stirred controversy after a line in the series – “You go through men faster than Taylor Swift” – was perceived as misogynistic by Taylor Swift’s fans and the singer herself had taken to social media to respond. “Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back. How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse shit as funny…,” Swift tweeted.
