The 80th edition of the prestigious Golden Globe Awards is all set to grace the silver screen soon. The awards ceremony this year, hosted by Jerrod Carmichael, is indeed a special one for Indian cinema, as an Indian film has bagged a nomination at the Golden Globes for the first time in almost two decades. SS Rajamouli’s epic period drama RRR is a contender for Best Picture - Non-English, and the film’s Telugu song Naatu Naatu has also been nominated for Best Original Song as well. In addition to the director, the film’s stars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan are also set to grace the ceremony. Viewers can expect to see some big names at the awards this year, and we’re here to tell you who.

Netflix’s Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is among one of the youngest nominees this year to grace the event. The lead star of Tim Burton’s series will compete with the likes of Quinta Brunson (Abbot Elementary), Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building) and Jean Smart (Hacks) in the ‘Best actress in a TV series - musical or comedy’ category.

Julia Garner has had quite a year, making her mark on television with her powerful performances in Inventing Anna and Ozark. The actress will also grace the ceremony, hoping to take home the trophy of ‘Best actress in a limited series or TV movie’(Inventing Anna) and ‘Best supporting actress in a musical, comedy or drama TV series’(Ozark).

Some of the best storytellers in Hollywood today, including Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Rian Johnson, James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro and Lukas Dhont, will grace the event as both attendees and presenters. Michelle Williams, Tony Kushner, Austin Butler and Niecy Nash are some of the other big names in Hollywood who will grace the event this year.

Not just the best in film and TV, but the Golden Globes also honour some of the best in music as well. So it is no surprise that the ceremony is expecting the likes of musical icons such as Taylor Swift and Rihanna to grace its red carpet this year as well.

In India, the 80th Golden Globe Awards can be streamed on Lionsgate Play, and OTTplay Premium, on January 11 at 6.30 am.
