Google Year in Search 2022: Demise of Lata Mangeshkar, KK, Bappi Lahiri top the list

The demise of four singers: Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri, Sidhu Moosewala and were among the top 10 most-googled news events of 2022 in India.

Google has released its annual Year in Search results, which include some noteworthy entries from the entertainment industry. While Brahmastra was the most searched-for Indian movie of 2022, Lata Mangeshkar's demise in February was the most searched-for Indian news report. This year nightingale of India passed away on February 6. The beloved singer died from post-Covid-19 complications and multi-organ failure after battling a Covid-19 infection and pneumonia for almost a month.

The demise of three additional singers was included on the list. The deaths of KK and the Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala in May, as well as the passing of Bappi Lahiri in February, were the second, eighth, and tenth most searched events of 2022. 

KK, the beloved singer experienced a severe heart attack following a standout performance at Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha. On May 31, KK passed away at the age of 53. On May 29, Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala was shot and killed. He was also the Congressman in Punjab's Mansa district. While Sidhu was taken by his friends in an ambulance to the hospital, the rapper was already dead when he got there. On the other hand, the whole film industry was shocked by the passing of another iconic singer in February. On February 16, singer-composer Bappi Lahiri passed away, just days after Lata Mangeshkar

Two other people, cricketer Shane Warne and Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, who also passed away are on the list.

The top 10 most googled people in 2022 included mentions of four celebrities from the entertainment industry. Two of them were entertainment-related, or they rose to prominence as a result of their connections to entertainment-related events. Following businessman Lalit Modi, who stated in July that they are dating, Sushmita Sen was the fifth most searched person of the year.

Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra and Yash-Sanjay Dutt starrer KGF: Chapter 2 were also among the top-trending searches on Google during the year.
