The film Raahgir—The Wayfarers had earlier won four awards at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival.
Goutam Ghose’s Raahgir—The Wayfarers clinched another laurel in its festival round spree. The latest cap in its feather is of being the opening film for the Indo German Film Week in Berlin. The festival is being held from September 23 to 29.
Rave reviews and resounding appreciation came their way at the prestigious film festival. The Hindi film had recently garnered four awards at the prestigious Washington DC South Asian Film Festival in the major categories - best feature film, best director for Ghose, best female actor for Tilotama Shome, and best male actor for Adil Hussain.
Back in June this year, Raahgir won two awards at the prestigious UK Asian Film Festival, wherein Gautam bagged the best director award and Tillotama was awarded the award for the best female actor.
Raahgir boasts of a powerful cast starring Adil Hussain, Tillotama, and Neeraj Kabi in the lead roles. The three play roles of strangers - Tillotama as Nathuni, Adil as Lakhua and Neeraj Kabi as Chopatlal - who chance upon each other accidentally and find a strong connection.
Adil Hussain had taken to Instagram a week before to announce that Raahgir would open Indo German Film Week. Have a look at the post here.

Raahgir is drawn from a short story by Prafulla Roy that holds up human values and humanity. Unfolding in rural India, the reality of impoverished Indians, and the forest dwellers are depicted in a unique way in the film as a contrast to the urban reality of city-bred lives and metropolises. Rural life is hinged on making the bare minimum needs meet. However, Raahgir celebrates the humanity and goodness that persist at the heart of the forest dwellers, and the empathy they have for fellow human beings.
Ghose, who has made his mark with his unique cinematic vision, is making his latest offering, Raahgir count for world cinema at large.
