Manoj Bajpayee will soon step into the shoes of a different kind of ‘family man’ in his upcoming film, Gulmohar. The actor will share the screen with veteran actress Sharmila Tagore in the upcoming family entertainer. The makers recently unveiled the first look image from the film,and revealed that the film will have an OTT release.

Fox Star Studios, who are bankrolling the film, shared the photograph on their official social media handles today. The photograph features the film’s cast including Bajpayee, Tagore, Suraj Sharma, Kaveri,Simran Rishi Bagga and Utsavi Jha, all smiles. The caption of the post introduces viewers with the protagonists- the Batra family. The caption mentions how viewers will be introduced to the family ‘soon’, and how, despite staying together, the family has its fair share of secrets from each other.

Bajpayee also shared the first look image on his official social media handles, teasing that an announcement about the upcoming film will come ‘soon’. The actor had started filming for Gulmohar in March this year, commemorating the occasion with a social media post. In the post, the actor talked about how ‘nervous’ and ‘excited’ he was for the new project. He shared the reasons to be sign up for the film in his statement. he said, "For me, firstly the narrative of the film was extremely candid and relatable. Secondly, sharing screen space with Sharmila ji was such an honor and above all, Rahul always came across as an intelligent talent and a man of integrity! What more could I ask for?" He added that he hopes the audience too will love it as much as he loved being a part of it.

In a statement, the makers announced that the film has wrapped up its shoot recently, and will have a direct-to OTT release on Disney+Hotstar in August. The film revolves around the story of the Batra family, who move out of their family home, which housed them for over three decades. While grappling with these changes, they have to stare down the strength of their family bonds, as well as their insecurities and personal secrets. The film is directed by Rahul V Chittella and has music composed by Siddhartha Khosla. The latter has worked on shows such as This is Us and Only Murders in the Building.
