The post has come as a huge relief for Suriya fans. Earlier, there were speculations that the project has been dropped after creative differences cropped up between Suriya and Bala. Suriya then replied to the rumours in style and dropped a picture with the director and said that he was eagerly looking forward to the project, thus putting an end to all the rumours. Suriya is said to be playing a fisherman in Vanangan, while Krithi Shetty is playing the leading lady along with Mamitha Baiju. Suriya had earlier played the lead in Bala's Nandha, Pithamagan and had done a cameo in Vishal and Arya's Avan Ivan.
In the meantime, Suriya has gone on to begin his work on his next with Siruthai Siva, which is billed as a period action drama. The makers had recently released a motion poster which revealed a glimpse from the film and it promised a 3D film that will be released in 10 languages. The film will be a pan-India release. Suriya also has in hand Vetri Maaran's Vaadi Vaasal, which will be based on the traditional bull-taming sport Jallikattu. Suriya is training for his character by rearing two bulls at his home. There is also a buzz that Suriya will team up with Shankar for a mega budget which will be based on the work of Madurai MP Su Venkatesan.
