Beast, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, stars Vijay and Pooja Hegde in the lead. It has an ensemble cast that includes Selvaraghavan, Shine Tom Chacko, VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Aparna Das, Shaji Chen, Sathish Krishnan, Ankur Ajit Vikal and Liliput. Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa and editing is by R Nirmal. The songs Arabic Kuthu and Jolly O Gymkhana have been some of the favourite dance numbers of the season.

The plot revolves around a former RAW agent who rescues around 200 people trapped in a mall in Chennai after a group of terrorists hijack the place. How the former ex-RAW agent handles the situation forms the crux of the story. The film released in theatres on the occasion of the Tamil New Year. The film marks the comeback of Pooja Hegde in Tamil after her last outing Mugamoodi (2012), which was directed by Mysskin and had Jiiva in the lead. The actress is back after a span of a decade.

Interestingly, Beast is now all set to stream on Netflix and Sun NXT on May 11. Though the film has received mixed reviews from the audience and critics, it hasn't really dampened the excitement of the fans and they are eagerly awaiting the OTT release.
