With the release of its crazy and funny trailer, Prime Video announced today that its family comedy, the Amazon Original series Happy Family: Conditions Apply, will be seen for the first time all over the world. Together with Raunaq Kamdar, Meenal Sahu, Sanah Kapur, and Ahaan Saboo, the series also stars established and up-and-coming performers like Raj Babbar, Ratna Pathak Shah, Atul Kulkarni, and Ayesha Jhulka. Happy Family: Conditions Apply episodes have been written, produced, and directed by Aatish Kapadia and JD Majethia. On March 10, the first four episodes will exclusively air on Prime Video, with two new episodes following every Friday until March 31.
The funny trailer takes the viewer into the world of the Dholakias, a four-generation family that lives in the same house and goes through the ups and downs of life together. From the outside, the Dholakia family seems perfect, but like most families, they aren't working well and have their own quirks, fights, and strange habits. They discover the ideal connection that holds them together despite these flaws.
In a statement, Prime Video's Head of India Originals, Aparna Purohit, said that Happy Family: Conditions Apply is their honest attempt to show a multigenerational family that is weird but charming. Each of these characters has their own quirks that will make people laugh every week and give them a much-needed break from their problems. They are convinced that audiences all around the world will identify with the Dholakias and see a reflection of their own families in them because it is their first collaboration with the genre's masters, JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia.
Aatish Kapadia and JD Majethia, the show's producers and directors, remarked that they believe that comedy works best when it is based on real-world events and observations, and Happy Family: Conditions Apply does exactly that. The Dholakias are a loving but strange family that shows how all joint families are different and have their own quirks. Their goal has always been to represent all facets of a family through their numerous series. Happy Family: Conditions Apply's characters represent behaviours and mannerisms that people have seen throughout the years in members of their family. This series is so relatable because of it. Kapadia and Majethia are happy to work with Prime Video, as they can now present this series to people all across the world. The actors and crew have all come together beautifully to bring their tiny vision to reality.
Raj Babbar revealed that he has not frequently experimented with the comedy genre. In fact, Happy Family: Conditions Apply is his first straight-up comedy, and that alone inspired him to join this series. Every element of a typical family may be found in the series. Drama, romance, fights and make-up, and a sense of humor all add to the comedy of the show. Working with Aatish, JD, and the rest of the great ensemble, who have all given their characters the fullest credit, has been a true honour and pleasure. Babbar is excited to see how audiences throughout the globe respond to his new character, and he hopes they love meeting the Dholakias as much as he did growing up with them!
Ratna Pathak Shah declared that playing a character who is blatantly herself can be enjoyable. Hemlata Dholakia is a character who wears her emotions on her sleeve while also being ready with a snarky comment at any moment. She is accidentally funny, bluntly honest, and fiercely protective of her family. Working with Aatish and JD, who have once again given the show their own style, as well as the rest of the amazingly talented cast, has always been a joy. The veteran actor is happy to be a part of this series and is eager to see how the viewers will respond.
Happy Family: Conditions Apply also features Swati Das, Atul Kumar, Kariuki Margaret Wanjiku, Paresh Ganatra, Pranoti Pradhan, Samar Vermani, and Neha Julka, all of whom play important roles.
