Yeon Sang-ho, the creator of the sci-fi thriller series Hellbound (available on Netflix), recently detailed plans for a season two.

"As a creator, Netflix is a good platform. There are no restrictions that come with being introduced first in Korea, so free planning is possible. It is also a great advantage and a new experience to be able to simultaneously release and see reactions in countries of different cultures. It was my first work with Netflix and it was successful, but if I do it again with Netflix, I won’t take a similar approach, I will do something new," he told Huffpost Korea.

Also known for zombie thriller Peninsula (2020) and Train to Busan (2016), spoke about a possibility of a third live-action instalment, and how he prefers to keep it as a film series and not a TV show.

Sang-ho said that he has a lot of ideas in mind for Peninsula and is currently working on different productions, but a third film is something he wants to make, according to Variety. The filmmaker explained that he would like to set this project in the same world as Peninsula: "[T]hey'll all become related together."

Hellbound, based on a webtoon of the same name, is about supernatural beings descending to earth and condemning people to Hell. It was released on Netflix on November 19. At the time of its release, the series became the most-watched on the platform in 24 regions, including Korea, Hong Kong, Belgium, Indonesia and the US.
