Taapsee Pannu's latest movie, Shabaash Mithu, hit theatres on July 15. In a recent interview with Filmfare, the actor discussed her career and her shift from the South to the Bollywood industry.

Pannu highlighted her debut Bollywood film, Chashme Baddoor, which came out in 2013. Individuals in the Bollywood industry often advised her to cover up the fact that she was from the south, fearing that people would mistake her for a "South Indian actress." She continued, "Yaar maine itni mehnat kari hai vahape, why is it not looked at as an asset? I’d done some credible work, and on top of that, I’d worked with some really good and credible names there."

Taapsee appeared in her first Bollywood film alongside Rishi Kapoor, Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Divyendu Sharma. The actor revealed that the renowned late actor Rishi Kapoor had been taken aback once he learned about Taapsee's career in the south.

She said, "I remember on the sets of Chashme Badoor, Rishi Kapoor Sir asked me once, ‘So how many films have you done in the South?’ I said 10 and I am working on the 11th one. And by the time Chashme Badoor was released, I had 12 South films out. And he was like, 'Arre tu to veteran hai!' So he was shocked to know that I had done this much work."

Taapsee, who began her Bollywood career around nine years ago, has achieved great things. The actor has acted in a number of popular films, including Thappad, Haseen Dillruba, Pink, Mulk, Baby, and many others.

Her latest film, Shabaash Mithu, directed by Srijit Mukherji, on the other hand, premiered in theatres today. The film follows the highs and lows of Mithali Raj, the former captain of the Indian cricket team. She also has a number of projects in the works, including a role opposite Shah Rukh Khan for the first time in Rajkumar Hirani's upcoming film Dunki. Taapsee also has Dobaaraa and Blurr in her kitty.
