One of the most popular actors down South, Vijay Sethupathi will be hoping to expand his fanbase with his upcoming Bollywood movies that include Santosh Sivan’s Mumbaikar, an untitled R Balki film and a Hindi web series with Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. However, before the release of those projects, the actor has a string of already completed films that will directly drop on OTTs.

The first of these is likely to be the Tamil rural-drama Kadaisi Vivasayi, which is written and directed by M Manikandan. The rights of the movie have reportedly been sold to SonyLIV, which incidentally is planning to release at least four Tamil movies in the next two months.

Kadaisi Vivasayi, which was shot in 2018, has an octogenarian farmer named Nallandi in the lead role with Sethupathi appearing in a pivotal cameo. The movie is expected to be available for streaming from July.

The actor’s second Tamil direct-to-OTT release and the much-anticipated one will be Tughlaq Durbar, which also has Raashi Khanna, Manjima Mohan and Parthibhan in supporting roles. The movie has Sethupathi playing a conniving politician who schemes his way to the top of his party.

The political drama, which is touted to be a fun movie, is directed by Delhi Prasad Dheenadayal and was scheduled for a theatrical release in May. Its digital rights have been bought by Disney+ Hotstar.

Another movie that has got Sethupathi fans, especially in Kerala, excited is the Malayalam film 19(1)(a) that will see him play his first full-length role in the industry. The actor will be sharing screen space with Nithya Menen in the movie directed by debutante Indhu VS. The social drama has Sethupathi playing the role of a Tamil writer settled in Kerala.

Considering the success of Sethupathi’s first two OTT releases this year – Master and Uppena, the streamers will be hoping that the actor’s upcoming movies also repeat the feat.
