Kareena Kapoor Khan has combed through countless scripts in the year following the birth of her second son, Jeh Ali Khan, but she is only now ready to report to a film set. The Devotion of Suspect X, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and based on Japanese novelist Keigo Higashino's acclaimed novel of the same name, will go on the floors in the coming week. According to reports in Mid Day, the first schedule will be held in Darjeeling.
A source told the tabloid that it's a two-week schedule in the hill station where Kareena, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma will film major scenes. Meanwhile, in Mehboob's studio, a member of the production design team will erect a set. The Mumbai leg will begin around the end of May, with Sujoy expecting to complete a portion of the film before the rains arrive.
The plot of the Japanese bestseller centres around a single mother who kills her ex-husband by accident. Following that, it's a game of wits as her neighbor assists her in covering up the crime while remaining one step ahead of the investigating officer. Netflix is set to release the Hindi adaptation next year.
Ghosh said of his film that Devotion is arguably the best love story he has ever read. It's such an honour for the filmmaker to be able to convert it into a film. In addition, he will have the opportunity to work alongside Kareena, Jaideep, and Vijay.
In response to the news, Kareena said that she couldn't wait to begin work on this fantastic project. It contains all of the necessary components, and she's incredibly excited to work with Sujoy, Jaideep, and Vijay because they have a wonderful story, a visionary director, and a super-skilled cast and crew. It's the start of an exciting journey, and the actor can't wait for people all across the world to witness this international bestseller come to life.
