The digital rights of the film have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video

Karthi's recent rural entertainer Viruman, directed by Muthaiaya, is all set to stream on Amazon Prime Video from September 11. The OTT giant made the announcement on its social media handle and Karthi, too, wrote on his handle, "A story that鈥檒l give you just the right mix of all the emotions 馃挜 #VirumanOnPrime, Sept 11 only on @PrimeVideoIN (sic)."
The film, revolves around Viruman, a youngster, who leaves his home, after realising that it was his father Muniyandi (Prakash Raj) who drew his mother to commit suicide. The film marks the acting debut of director Shankar's daughter Aditi Shankar and her performance in Viruman has been applauded by many. The star cast includes Raj Kiran, Prakash Raj, Saranya Ponvannan, Soori, Karunas, Vadivukkarasi, RK Suresh, Manoj Bharathiraja, Ilavarasu, Singampuli, GM Sundar, Rajkumar and OAK Sundar. Karthi and Muthaiya had earlier teamed up with Komban, which was also a rural entertainer with Lakshmi Menon playing the leading lady and the film had set the cash registers ringing.
Viruman has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the soundtrack comprises four songs - Kanja Poovu Kannala (sung by Sid Sriram), Madura Veeran (Yuvan and Aditi Shankar), Vaanam Kidukidunga (Yuvan Shankar Raja and Muthu Sirpi) , Aagasam Kannukulla (Yuvan Shankar Raja). Cinematography is by Selvakumar SK and editing is by Venkat Raajen. The film is bankrolled by Suriya and Jyotika's production banner 2D Entertainment.
Though the film, which hit screens on August 12, received mixed reviews, it became a success at the box office, becoming one of the highest grossers of the year. It was initially slated to release on August 31, but when Vikram's Cobra makers decided to postpone the film's release to that date, Viruman makers advanced the release and benefited out of it. Karthi, in the meantime, is awaiting the release of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan and PS Mithran's action-packed entertainer Sardar.
