Even today, women have to fight a difficult battle when she is wronged by a man, proving herself and her claims. Imagine the plight of women in 1386 then. Based on a true story, the historical film The Last Duel is all gearing up for a release worldwide.

The film revolves around the last legally sanctioned duel in the history of France, which was fought by Jacques Le Gris and his best friend and knight Jean de Carrouges after Jean's wife Marguerite de Carrouges accused Jacques of raping her. The trailer that was released by the makers earlier this year shows a promising tale of a woman who decides not to remain silent and takes a stand for herself to seek justice.

The film is based on the 2004 book The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France authored by Eric Jager.

The shooting for the film began early last year but was indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic after a month. The production finally concluded in Ireland in October 2020. The release of the film had to also be postponed several times due to the pandemic. It was initially slated for a release in December last year. The film will finally release this month. The film will run in theatres for 45 days before going for an OTT streaming. However, it is yet to be confirmed which platform it will be streaming on.

Meanwhile, the 20th Century Studios, distributor of the film, announced the release date of the film in India with another trailer today. The film will release on October 14 in many countries while in India, it is releasing on October 22 in theatres.
