Directed by Shouryuv, Hi Nanna was a smash hit at the box office
Hi Nanna, Nani’s second film in 2023 after Dasara, released in theatres across five languages - Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada - on December 7. Mrunal Thakur was paired opposite the ‘Natural Star’ in the film that also featured Ritika Nayak and Shruti Haasan in special appearances. Jayaram, Shilpa Tulaskar, Angad Bedi, Priyadarshi Pulikonda, Nasser formed the supporting cast.
Shouryuv made his directorial debut with the film produced by Vyra Entertainments. While locking horns with Nithiin’s comedy Extra Ordinary Man at the box office, Hi Nanna was a commercial success that received glowing reviews from critics and viewers alike. After a four week theatrical run, Hi Nanna is now out on OTT. Netflix has premiered the film in multiple languages today.

Besides the star cast, the performances and the execution, Hesham Abdul Wahab’s album was one of the major crowd-pullers for the feel-good film.
In a nutshell, the story revolves around a celebrity photographer Viraj and the highs and lows in his love and marriage life besides his equation with his daughter Mahi. Hi Nanna significantly unfolds across three regions - Mumbai, Coonoor and Goa. Despite dealing with a predictable premise and familiar situations, the film benefited with its earnest treatment.
Sanu John Varughese, who cranked the camera in Nani’s films like Shyam Singha Roy and Jersey, is the cinematographer. Praveen Anthony is the editor. Actor Dhruv Vikram also crooned for a song in Hi Nanna - Odiyamma - in Tamil and Telugu, alongside Chinmayi Sripada and Shruti Haasan. After Hi Nanna, Nani is working on an action drama Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, helmed by Vivek Athreya.
