After the success of the film Soorarai Pottru, actor Suriya joined hands with Abundantia Entertainment for the Hindi remake of the film in association with his production house 2D Entertainment. However, the remake faced a major roadblock when it ran into legal trouble after the Tamil film’s co-producer Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment filed an injunction application at the Madras High Court.

The hearing on the matter happened today and the court ruled in favour of Suriya’s 2D Entertainment. Suriya's counsel reportedly argued that they paid a huge amount to Sikhya Entertainment to get the rights of the book Simply Fly, on which Soorarai Pottru is based. The book chronicles the life of the Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath.

With the injunction vacated by the High Court, the work on the official Hindi remake of the successful and critically acclaimed Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru will begin shortly. However, the cast for the Hindi remake is not finalised and it is not sure if Suriya will play the role of the captain again.

Suriya played the character of the Air Deccan founder, Captain Gopinath in Soorarai Pottru. Sudha Kongara, who helmed the Tamil version, will also be helming the Hindi remake. The film that went for a direct digital release on Amazon Prime won big at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The film bagged two awards - Best Film Award and Best Actor Award for Suriya.
