Lately, Will Smith has been working on huge projects back to back but this one might be the biggest of them all. The Pursuit of Happiness actor is working behind the scenes to produce a romantic comedy set in the NASCAR world with EDM group The Chainsmokers working alongside him.
The series is expected to revolve around an ambitious sports agent called Lyla who ends up losing her top client before NASCAR's latest season and is looking for other options. She shortlists a 17-year-old dirt track racer named Piper Kyte and turns him into a racing star.
But Piper is trying to avoid his father Matthew Kyte, a former NASCAR champion himself. Lyla must work hard for Piper so that he creates an identity for himself and gets a lot of fans. One might think that it is an interesting concept for Smith to undertake the role of Matthew Kyte but according to Deadline’s report, it seems Will Smith is to remain on the production side of the series and not on screen.
Aladdin actor has stayed away from appearing on screen while he is producing the films or series like in Netflix’s Cobra Kai, 2020’s Charm City Kings and Life in a Year, which features his son Jaden Smith, a well-known rapper.
The Chainsmokers’ have also joined in to produce Clear Air and it is natural to find it odd. But apparently the EDM band has an established relationship with NASCAR as they have performed multiple times at many of their races over the past years. The band’s production company Kick The Habit Productions jumped in after reading the script.
