The current year has been riddled with personal and professional milestones for Alia Bhatt. Apart from starring in one of the highest grossing Hindi films of the year, Brahmastra, Alia embarked upon new chapters in her personal life, from getting married to Ranbir Kapoor to welcoming her first child this year on November 6.

Coming from a film background, it was only natural that fans wondered whether Alia’s daughter would also follow in her mother’s footsteps. In a recent interview, which took place before the birth of Alia’s daughter, the actress revealed how she would react if her daughter wanted to be an actress.

In conversation with Marie Claire, Alia said that her child’s decision to pursue acting was not something she could plan nor prepare for at this time. She went on to say that she did not want to have any preconceived or fixed ideas about how she wanted it to be like. “Because why should I have any expectations and then be met with any disappointment or elation or anything of that sort? So they need the slate blank, a bit”, she said.

The daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, Alia had made her Bollywood debut in Karan Johar’s 2012 film, Student of the Year, alongside fellow debutants Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The actress, who was last seen opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Brahmastra, will next be seen in Karan’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which also features Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan in pivotal roles. The film is slated for release next year.

Alia is also gearing up for the release of her first Hollywood film, Heart of Stone, which will see her share the screen with Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. The Tom Harper directorial is slated for release next year on Netflix.
