Akshay Kumar continues to be the most sought-after actor in Hindi cinema with a plethora of acting gigs to his name. From biographical dramas to bona fide action thrillers, the senior actor’s recent filmography is as eclectic as it gets; to make things better, each of his films (barring a couple) have been commercially viable as well!

So, for obvious reasons, Khiladi Kumar has remained one of the highest taxpayers in India for many years together and was also recently honored by the Income Tax Department for his commitment. The Raksha Bandhan actor was felicitated with a Samman Patra from the IT department as a recognition of his contribution towards nation building: while the actor was away at work, it was his team that proudly accepted the honor on his behalf.

However, Akshay Kumar spoke to ANI recently about the felicitation and said, “Ji mujhe kaha to yehi gaya hai (Yes, that’s exactly what I have been told). I am really honored. It feels great that the Income Tax Department recognizes the whole thing and gives credit to people. Also, it’s good that when you earn, you give it back to the country. It’s one of the best feelings”.

The same ANI report adds that Kumar was on the Forbes list of highest-paid entertainers in 2015 and 2019, having earned close to Rs. 400 crores through film signings, brand endorsements, and other modes.

Although Akshay Kumar found prominence in the Hindi Film Industry for his roles in ‘90s action films like Khiladiyon ka Khiladi, Mohra, and many others, it was the turn of the decade that brought him tremendous success as a leading man. Through comedies and films of the romance genre (along with a smattering of action roles), Kumar was able to penetrate the urban Indian market that was previously owned by the ‘Khans’ of Hindi cinema. Soon after, one saw him dabble with more enterprising characters in films like Special 26, Airlift, Jolly LLB 2, and Padman.

He will next be seen in Raksha Bandhan, Capsule Gill, and many others.
