It's once again a clash of the titans at the box office with Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan hitting the big screens on the same day. Yes, both the films have got a festive release on August 11, 2022, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Although Akshay has multiple releases in the same year, Aamir is coming to theatres after four long years, much to the excitement of the fans.
During a group media interaction, when the Dangal star was asked about the clash, he stated, "I have seen the trailer for Raksha Bandhan and I liked it. When we ask whether we make relevant films, here's a relevant film. It is a film about a common man who does have problems with economic issues. I'm hoping the film is well made, but certainly, it's a topic that is relevant to us. I'm sure it'll do well, and I hope it does. And I hope our film does well as well."
In the same interview, Aamir said that if the film is relevant and strikes a chord with the audience, it will work at the box office no matter what.
Meanwhile, when Akshay was asked about Raksha Bandhan clashing with Laal Singh Chaddha, he said in an interview that it's not a clash. The actor said that two good films are coming together, and it's a huge day, too. Many films were delayed or never released as a result of COVID-19, and some are still awaiting a release date. More movies will logically be released at the same time. And Akshay too hopes both movies have a successful run at the box office.
Advait Chandan directed Laal Singh Chaddha from a screenplay written by Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni. It is a remake of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump, which was based on Winston Groom's 1986 novel of the same name. It is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios. Aamir Khan plays the eponymous character in the film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya in his Hindi cinema debut, and Mona Singh.
Raksha Bandhan, which was co-written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon, was directed by Aanand L. Rai. Zee Studios, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films are producing it. Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar appear in the flick.
