The crime drama series star has confirmed that the movie based on the show has begun production

Idris Elba has garnered a large number of fans for his portrayal of Luther in the TV series of the same name. Now the star will star in the feature movie that is based on the series.
The actor took to social media to share the news about the production of the movie. The star shared photographs of the clap board and him in costume as Luther.
The clapboard also reveals the date October 27, meaning the production has been on for a couple of weeks. Jaime Payne, director of Luther Season 5, will helm the movie.
Luther, which starred Elba ran for five seasons from 2010 to 2019. The show follows the titular character, a Detective Chief Inspector played by Elba who is highly dedicated to his job. He often finds himself in trouble with his nemesis, Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson.)
The show was a hit and garnered a lot of critical acclaim, and gained Elba a lot of praise. The movie will also star Andy Serkis, who has just directed Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Tony-award winner Cynthia Erivo.
Elba was most recently seen in movies such as The Suicide Squad, Concrete Cowboy, and The Harder They Fall.
