It is true that, over the years, fans have grown privy to not one but multiple versions of Darshan Thoogudeepa. On the one hand, there's the Challenging Star who commands legions of the most dedicated and ardent fans who throng the cinema halls every time he has a film to offer. The same Challenging Star is also infamous for his forthrightness and bluntness and these aspects of his personality have often landed him in some kind of trouble.

On the other, there's the Darshan who is regarded by his peers as the fiercest of friends who boasts childlike innocence and a most magnanimous personality. The two contrasting images of the same person have lived in tandem since the very beginning but Darshan himself believes that his persona is only held like a mirror for others and that he reciprocates based on what the other person brings to the table.

"If you are good, I am very good. But if you are bad, I am very bad," to put it simply.

In a recent intimate conversation with a YouTube channel, Darshan opened up about a number of facets of his image and how he chooses to stay the way he is, regardless of the consequences. "I have no regrets," he says when quizzed about his combative personality.

"I can never be calculative about my responses - I respond to what I hear and it is as simple as that. Be it any situation, I have never felt like I must sugar-coat something and then answer. If someone's nice and friendly with me, the inner child in me comes out and I am very cool. But if I sense that the other person is ill-intended in any manner, then the other side of my personality comes out," added Darshan in the same YouTube interview.

In the same vein, the Kranti actor alluded to the fact that he is often brought into the limelight because he fetches TRPs. And perhaps that is why issues are mostly blown out of proportion and most tabloids target him alone and not the other person involved in the squabble.

When asked if he could pick one thing that he hasn't been able to do as a celebrity, Darshan said, "If there's something that I haven't done either as Darshan or the Challenging Star, then it's cheat or deceive anyone."

Darshan's Kranti is out in theatres on January 26th, clashing with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan at the box office.
