The Mahabharata is one of the toughest stories to be told on the screen and twice television aced it. We have seen the animated version of the epic, but fans have been awaiting to see the live-action version on the big screen. For many years, Aamir Khan has been expressing his desire to make a movie on Mahabharata but it hasn't seen the broad daylight. Now, during a recent interaction with Film Companion, Ranveer Singh also shared similar thoughts.

The talented actor mentioned Mahabharata when asked about a film he would like to direct. He stated, "If I could tell or direct one movie though, I would love to make and tell the Mahabharata. That's one story that must be realized on celluloid. I feel like somebody has to make it. We had the cult TV series, of course. But the Mahabharata has got to be made into a movie, into like a trilogy or even like a seven-part mega cinema experience that will blow the lid of any cinema lover in the world."

Ranveer went on to say, "Mahabharata is just waiting to be made into a film and there are so many prominent and eminent film personalities that have dabbled in actually realising this great dream. I think it's around the corner. I hope it happens and I hope I can be some part of it. If they don't make it in the next 20 years, I will make it. "

Well, that's something which fans will definitely look forward to.

Currently, Ranveer is gearing up for the release of Jayeshbhai Jordaar, which is a homecoming for him to Yash Raj Films after six years. The film is directed by debutant Divyang Thakkar and produced by Maneesh Sharma. Jayeshbhai Jordaar also features debutante Shalini Pandey, Ratna Pathak Shah and Boman Irani in pivotal roles. The film is slated for release on May 13, 2022.
