The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has announced the 2021 line-up for the Indian Panorama segment, and it's once again dominated by regional language movies. The nine-day festival, which will be in a hybrid format including virtual and physical, is scheduled from November 20 to 28.

Indian Panorama includes 25 feature films and 20 non-features for the screening, according to the press release. Headed by acclaimed filmmaker and actor S V Rajendra Singh Babu, the jury has selected Aimee Baruah’s Dimasa-language movie Semkhor as the opening film of the segment. 

The category is further led by Marathi and Bengali movies. This includes actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay directorial Abhijaan and other five Bengali movies, Marathi films like Godavari, Funeral, Bittersweet and more. There are Kannada, Tamil and Hindi and Malayalam movies as well.

India’s official Oscar entry, Koozhangal (Tamil) will also be screened in the category, along with Hindi-language movies like Toofaan Mail and Alpha Beta Gamma. The list has been picked from a wide range of 221 contemporary Indian films.

Meanwhile, Rajiv Parkash’s Ved… The Visionary will be the opening movie of the non-feature category. The jury headed by filmmaker S Nallamuthu has picked the final 20, after considering 203 contemporary Indian non-features.

This list ranges to Hindi films such as Bharat, Prakriti Ka Balak, Teen Adhyay, and Jugalbandi. It further includes three English language movies, two Bengali, and one movie each from Assamese, Garhwali, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Manipuri and Tamil. 

The 52nd International Film Festival of Indian will be conducted in collaboration with the Goa government and is being organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
