The lead actors of the Anurag Kashyap-directed and Nihit Bhave-written film Dobaaraa are Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati. The plot centres on a woman who, while watching television during an analogous storm that is occurring now, has the chance to save the life of a 12-year-old kid who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm that occurred 25 years earlier. This movie is a Hindi adaptation of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage.

One of the largest celebrations of Indian cinema outside of the subcontinent is the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The festival is preparing to be physically hosted this year after being presented online for the last two years, with the aim of bringing the vibrancy of Indian cinema to where it belongs—on the big screen. The IFFM team is bringing another exciting, diversified set of Indian cinema to Melbourne with movies like Dobaaraa and preparing a blockbuster programme of supporting activities at the same time.

Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee Pannu will both be heading to Melbourne for the IFFM 2022 opening night film. The film's new-age and cutting-edge narrative has been hailed as a "must-watch" through early screenings across the board, and it is receiving utter love and acclaim from audiences everywhere.

As Anurag Kashyap put it, he is excited to screen their movie and have it chosen as the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne's opening night film. The filmmaker has gone to IFFM before and has personally witnessed how enthusiastically Indian films and films from the subcontinent are praised. As a director, Dobaaraa is a special movie for him, and he is excited to offer it on this platform.

The Director of the IFFM festival, Mitu Bhowmik Lange, continued that at IFFM, their goal is to give filmmakers from all over the world a shared stage on which to display their skills and promote global cinema's best work. Dobaaraa, a psychological thriller by Anurag Kashyap, opens their main event. He has been a fan of his work since Silk Route, so he always looks forward to his movies. This one was especially exciting to them because Taapsee was in it, and they really adored Taapsee's work. Dobaaraa, which they are screening at their film festival, allows them to proudly highlight some of the best Indian cinematic talents, and he hopes that after its release, viewers all over the world will enjoy it.

Dobaaraa is slated for global release on August 19, 2022. After the 2018 smash Manmarziyaan and the biographical drama Saand Ki Aankh (2019), in which he served as producer, this movie is Kashyap and Pannu's third collaboration. She also re-teams with Pavail Gulati, her co-star from Thappad. The movie is co-produced by Sunir Kheterpal and Gaurav Bose's production company Athena and Ektaa Kapoor's Cult Movies, a new branch under Balaji Telefilms.
