Gautam Gambhir is all set to begin his journey as the head coach and Suryakumar Yadav, as T20 captain, as the India men’s cricket team gears up to start their Sri Lanka tour from Saturday in Pallekele and Colombo. India will take on Sri Lanka in three T20 and three ODI matches.
Gambhir took over the charges from Rahul Dravid, who stepped down as the head coach after the team’s glorious T20 World Cup win. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma bade farewell to T20 as Yadav has been selected as the captain. Gambhir and Yadav walk a long way as they both are in Kolkata Knight Riders. Yadav called their bond ‘special’ and ‘strong’.
The three T20 matches will take place on July 27, July 28, and July 30. The ODI’s are scheduled to take place on August 2, August 4, and August 7. In India, the matches will stream on SonyLiv and are also available on OTTplay Premium.
Along with Rohit Sharma will join the team after the T20 matches. He will lead the team in ODI clashes with Shubhman Gill as his deputy.
