Is Amitabh Bachchan's Jhund getting an OTT release? Director Nagraj Manjule reveals

Nagraj Manjule, whose latest outing was Unpaused: Naya Safar, can now concentrate on his next project, Jhund. The biographical sports drama is based on the life of Professor Vijay Barse, who motivated slum youths to join a football team and is the subject of this biographical sports drama. The film, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akash Thosar, and Rinku Rajguru, was set to be released in September 2019. It has been postponed multiple times since then.

Nagraj confirms that the film will be released and that it will be seen in theaters. The filmmaker said that it's been a long time since the film has been made and released. He would want to see it released in theaters as he has spent a lot of time trying and failing to achieve it. Nagraj added that the entire cast has rallied behind him, and they will all work together to get it released in theaters when the time comes.

Elaborately, Jhund is based on the story of Barse, a retired sports instructor who created Slum Soccer as a non-profit organization. He was able to rehabilitate street youngsters by turning them into soccer players and forming a squad to keep them away from drugs and crime.

After wrapping up Sairat in 2016, Nagraj wrote the script. Bachchan was his only option. In Hindi cinema, the filmmaker makes his directorial debut.

Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, filmmakers have begun to consider distributing their comparatively smaller films directly on OTT platforms.

Earlier, Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film would be released on September 20, 2019. It was later rescheduled until December 13, 2019. The film's release date was set for May 8, 2020, on January 21, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was further postponed. The film's release has been postponed until October 2020, as the filmmakers try to address copyright difficulties in the courts. The film was set to be released on June 18, 2021.
