Kajol is all set to be seen in a mythological horror film, Maa. Ahead of the release, the actress opened up about the possibility of a sequel.

Get ready for an engaging mythological horror film, Maa. Starring Kajol in the lead role, the film is produced by the makers of the hit 2024 film Shaitaan. The trailer and the first track, Humnava, have been garnering a lot of attention, building anticipation for the plot to unfold. Ahead of the film's release, Kajol opened up about the possibility of a Maa sequel and also revealed whether Maa has cameos of Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan.
During an interview with Pinkvilla, Kajol was asked about the Maa sequel and also whether Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan have cameos in Maa. Reacting to the cameos, Kajol said, "No, no. I wish you had given me this suggestion earlier. If you'd told me before our shoot, we might have filmed it."
She also added that it is too late and the film is about to release. When suggested that the cameos can be added in Maa's sequel if ever it happens, Kajol said, "Absolutely. I hope you all like the film a lot, there will be a Maa 2. Maa 2 does not sound good, right? (smiles)" Then the interviewer said, "Maa Returns sounds better," to which the actress said, "I will come to you for suggestions."
Recently, the makers dropped an engaging track, Humnava. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal with additional vocals by Jubin Nautiyal, the music video showed Kajol's emotional motherly journey of love with her daughter, as she missed her husband. Kajol tries hard to give the best life to her daughter and can be seen spending quality time with her.
The music is composed by Rocky Mehr Bano Khanna - Shiv Aneeta Malhotra. The lyrics are done by Manoj Prema Muntashir Shukla, while the music is arranged by Vaibhav Pani.
Maa is a Hindi mythological horror film starring Kajol, with a story that centers around a mother protecting her daughter from a demonic curse rooted in a cursed village. To break the curse and save her daughter, Kajol transforms into a fierce figure resembling the goddess Kali. The film is directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. Apart from Kajol, Indranil Sengupta, Ronit Roy, and Jitin Gulati will be seen in important roles in the film.
Meanwhile, Maa is a pan-India release and will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali. The film will hit theatres on June 27, 2025, and after its theatrical run, it will be available on Netflix.
