With so many famous shows having spinoffs or reboots, such as Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, and Sex and the City, the big question is whether a Friends reboot is possible. Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay in the hit sitcom, says she would certainly be open to a Friends return, but with a completely different cast.
In an interview with Where Is the Buzz, the actor discussed a possible Friends revival, according to E! News. Kudrow hinted that a reboot would be in the works if the showrunners chose to replace the original characters.
She stated that, in her opinion, there isn't going to be a Friends reboot. Not with any of them in it, at least. Of course, Friends creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane aren't writing it. Kudrow went on by asking if a reboot could happen with a new group of actors.
She continued by saying that she would be in favour of it. She would like to see what the current version of that looks like.
While Hollywood continues to resuscitate and reboot great 2000s series such as Sex and the City with And Just Like That, and Hulu rebooted How I Met Your Mother with How I Met Your Father, the cast of Friends has been reticent to indicate interest in a revival.
Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc were among the original six cast members who reunited in May 2021 for HBO's Friends: The Reunion, when they toured the sets and shared tales from their time filming the wildly popular sitcom.
Friends was a television show that aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004 for ten seasons. The popular sitcom follows six friends in their twenties and thirties who reside in Manhattan, New York City.
