It's official: Karthi's Viruman to hit screens on August 12

It's confirmed! Karthi's upcoming rural entertainer Viruman is all set to hit screens on August 12. The makers made the official announcement of the same. They wrote on their social media handle, "All set to take the screens by storm! #Viruman in theatres from August 12th! @Karthi_Offl @Suriya_offl @dir_muthaiya @thisisysr @AditiShankarofl @rajsekarpandian @prakashraaj #Rajkiran @sooriofficial (sic)." Viruman has got the U/A certificate. 

Speculations were rife that the film will hit screens earlier than announced after the release date went missing in the recent posters. The buzz began when the team of Chiyaan Vikram's Cobra pushed their release date to August 31, when Viruman was supposed to release. The Ajay Gnanamuthu film was earlier slated for August 11 release. Now, the makers of Viruman have bagged the date and the recent posters have made it official. In the meantime, the team is planning a grand audio launch in Madurai on August 3. Suriya, who is also the producer of the film, is expected to be part of the event. The event is attempt to thank everyone in the city for their co-operation.

Touted to be a rural-based mass entertainer, Viruman, directed by Muthaiah, is set in the backdrop of Madurai. This is the second collaboration between Karthi and Muthaiah after their 2015 hit rural entertainer, Komban, which had Lakshmi Menon playing the leading lady. Komban was huge success at the box office.

Ace director Aditi Shankar plays the leading lady in Viruman and the film will mark her acting debut. The supporting cast includes Rajkiran, Prakash Raj, Saranya Ponvannan, Vadivukkarasi, Karunas, RK Suresh, Manoj, Soori, Singampuli in pivotal roles. Music for the film is by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography is by Selvakumar SK of Maanagaram-fame. Editing is by Venkat Raajen. The film is bankrolled by 2D Entertainment and distributed by Sakthi Film Factory.
