The last time an update was revealed from the team of Jailer was a few weeks ago. The makers wrapped up shooting and a couple of stills from the location, featuring Rajinikanth and Tamannaah among others, were released. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial's release date was announced much earlier.

Sun Pictures has bankrolled the project which stars Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishna and Sunil among others in important characters. Anirudh has composed music for the film and Stun Siva has choreographed action sequences.

The first single from the film is expected to be unveiled soon. An announcement is likely to happen soon. As Anirudh's single from Vijay's Leo is releasing in a couple of days, Jailer's song could be out in a week or two. Jailer is crucial for both Rajinikanth and Nelson as their previous respective projects were failures.

The team has now come up with an exciting update on its release in overseas locations. Leading production and distribution company Ayngaran International has bagged the movie's theatrical rights overseas. Fans of Rajinikanth are now waiting for an update on the booking which is expected to begin next month. Rajinikanth has always been the undisputable overseas king among Tamil stars and cinephiles are eager to know about the number of theatres in which Jailer is releasing.

Meanwhile, the Superstar, who will be seen in a cameo in his daughter's directorial flick Lal Salaam, will begin work on TJ Gnanavel's Thalaivar 170 (tentative title) later this year.

He will be essaying the role of a cop who fights for a social cause. There are reports that its story is based on a real life incident. Darbar was the last project which had Rajini playing a cop.
