Jamie Lynn Spears reminisces on I’m a Celebrity sister Britney’s iconic VMAs kiss with Madonna

On the latest episode (November 24) of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity, Jamie Lynn Spears opened about her memory of the historical kiss between her elder sister, Britney Spears and Madonna. The iconic smooch had taken place onstage during the opening performance of the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. The pop divas had been joined by singer Christina Aguilera, to open the awards ceremony with a compilation of Like a Virgin and Hollywood.

During the performance Britney and Madonna locked lips in a kiss of artistic expression and musical fervor. The kiss had immediately gone in public memory as one of the hottest and most memorable kisses. When asked by Fred Sirieix of her reaction to watching it live back then, Jamie got candid.

“They just did it. I was at home watching like, ‘Oh Ok, this will be fun tomorrow at school, can’t wait,” said the younger Spears sibling, before expressing how much she adores and looks up to Britney. “Anything my sister did I always thought was the best. When it came to my sister, even if I felt anything, if anyone said anything I was ready to go. I was like, ‘Don’t talk about my sister, she’s the best.’”

While commenting on how their family reacted to it, Jamie revealed, “And so literally I just thought—and by the way, in today’s world it would mean nothing—but it was this iconic moment that they went with, and it happened and it’s what they did. When describing her mother’s reaction, she said that the former was like, “It’s artistic, she’s expressing herself.” When asked of her bond with her sister, Jamie Spears simply said outright, “I love my sister.”
