Audiences have been gushing about Jayeshbhai Jordaar's trailer ever since it was released. Ranveer Singh has succeeded to reignite interest in his film, and fans are eager to watch it in theatres. Everything about him is being discussed, whether it's his character or his appearance.
Now that the release date is approaching, Ranveer Singh is on a promotional rampage, leaving no stone unturned to promote his next social comedy.
Ranveer's character is inspired by Charlie Chaplin, as previously reported, and now the actor has acknowledged that he drew inspiration from the iconic comedian in a recent interview with Mid Day.
Ranveer compares Jayeshbhai to Charlie Chaplin's satires because it makes a very strong case for gender equality.
He adds that Jayeshbhai is a character without a counterpart in Bollywood films, but that if he had to compare him to someone in terms of demeanour, it would be Charlie Chaplin. The comic, according to the Bajirao Mastani actor, has the ability to play through his pain. Ranveer jokes that his circumstance was terrible, but that he was able to deal with it by using humour.
Ranveer claims that he preferred Jayeshbhai Jordaar because it gave him the opportunity to work in his favourite genre, tragic comedy. He saw a close-up picture of Chaplin throughout his study, Ranveer states about his character.
On the surface, it appears to be a humorous image, but closer inspection reveals that his eyes are filled with tears. That was Jayesh's driving force. He printed the picture by largening it and pasted it in his vanity. It provided him with all of the necessary character elements before he went out to play Jayesh.
The movie, written and directed by Divyang Thakker, releases in cinemas on May 13.
