Ranveer Singh's social comedy drama Jayeshbhai Jordaar has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The film became the talk of the town ever since it was announced and the excitement of the fans only increased after watching the trailer that was released by the makers recently. But unfortunately, the film has run into legal trouble.
A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday against the makers of the film for showing a scene of pre-natal sex determination during an ultrasound in the trailer of the film. The petition was filed by advocate Pawan Prakash Pathak. According to Bollywood Hungama, the plea states that though the film focuses on female foeticide and promotes the cause of Save Girl Child, the trailer also shows using ultrasound technology to determine the sex of the unborn child, which is restricted under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994. The makers have been slapped with sections 3, 3A, 3B, 4, 6 & 22 of the PC & PNDT Act as openly advertising the sex determination using ultrasound technology, without censor, is not allowed either and hence, an instant PIL has been filed.
The film Jayeshbhai Jordaar stars Shalini Pandey as the female lead. It also features Ratna Pathak Shah and Boman Irani in important roles.
The story of the film revolves around the titular character Jayeshbhai, played by Ranveer Singh, who decides to fight against his family to save his family after he learns that his wife is pregnant again with a girl.
Directed by Divyang Thakkar, the film is produced by Yash Raj Films and Maneesh Sharma. It marks the celebrations of 50 years of YRF and also aims to bring back the lost crowd to the theatres.
The film is scheduled for a release on May 13 but it needs to be seen if the legal case against the makers would further delay the release or not.
