Nagraj Manjule’s sports drama Jhund starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role released to positive reviews on March 4. The film’s producer has now taken to social media to ask what the criteria is to have films made tax free.

In a Facebook post, producer Savita Raj Hiremath started off by saying she recently watched The Kashmir Files and that the story of the film needed to be told and that it is a good voice for the Kashmiri Pandits.

She then wrote, “But as the producer of JHUND I am perplexed. After all Jhund is also an important film and has a story and a Big Message that has received tremendous acclaim and word of mouth from audience (sic).”

The producer added that she wanted to know what the criterion is for the government to endorse a film on social media, to make it tax free and give half days holidays for its employees.

Hiremath capped off the post by saying that Jhund also has a subject that is important for the country's growth and not only talks about the disparity between caste and economic disparity, but also about how the lower strata of society find their success story.

The Kashmir Files directed by Vivek Agnihotri and starring Anupam Kher hit theatres . The film has received mixed reactions and has already collected reportedly over Rs 100 crores in the box office.

The film talks about the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency. Also starring Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi and Mithun Chakraborty, it was made tax free in multiple states.

Okay Jhund, based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer, has received positive reviews and has reportedly collected Rs 15 crore so far.
