Fans have been eagerly waiting for a sequel to the 2019 psychological thriller Joker ever since it was released. Director Todd Phillipsrecently gave an update regarding a sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix to the excitement of the fans, and the latest reports suggest that Lady Gaga could be a part of the sequel.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Lady Gaga is in early talks to star in the sequel to the Oscar winning movie. The actor could appear as Joker’s long time love interest Harley Quinn in the movie according to the report. Sources also add that the movie is a musical, as opposed to the first film.
While Margot Robbie currently plays Harley in the DCEU, the prospect of Lady Gaga playing a version of the former psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum is highly appealing to fans of the movie. While there is nothing confirmed as of yet, fans can expect some official news considering the pace at which the movie is being taken forward.
Joker became a surprise hit following its release in 2019. The movie received mixed reactions from critics but went on to mint over $1 Billion at the box office. The movie struck a chord with the audience and also went on to win the Oscars for Best Actor (Phoenix) and Best Original Score.
The movie followed a beaten up comedian with a medical condition, who goes down a dark path in a rotting Gotham City. The movie also features Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham and Marc Maron in important roles.
Lady Gaga, who impressed with 2018’s A Star Is Born, was last seen in Ridley Scott’s biographical crime drama House of Gucci.
