Actor-singer Aparshakti Khurana is receiving a lot of love for Vikramaditya Motwane-directed web series Jubilee. The actor opens up on his struggle to make it big in the film industry. He reveals what kept him going despite multiple rejections.
In an interview with Indian Express, Aparshakti said, “I think the struggle and rejection is part of every actor's journey, especially those actors who came from a different city to Mumbai and started working from the scratch. The only good thing that happened to me during that phase is, I never got bitter with rejections and struggle. I think that is where the journey ends; if and when you start becoming a bitter person, things around you also go against you. I was just taking one day at a time.”
The story of the show is set in the 1950s Bombay film industry. Aparshakti plays the character of Binod Das in the series. Co-incidentally, one of the scenes in the series shows how the character of Sumitra Kumari played by Aditi Rao Hydari refuses to work with Binod Das because he was a struggling actor and not a big hero in the film industry.
Aparshakti was asked if he faced the same problem in real life. He said, “Yes, of course, that keeps on happening, especially at the beginning of the career. It happens now also and I am sure it will happen in the future as well.”
However, he did seem quite a sport. The Dangal famed actor said, “But I think it also motivates me in a good way that maybe they are not saying that you are a bad actor but you might have to work on the craft or the timing is not right, it's fine with me. I am sure all of us wanted to create a show like this many years ago, but it is happening now. That means it is the right time for all of us, we should rather celebrate that.”
The web series also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aparshakti Khurana, Sidhant Gupta, Ram Kapoor, Shweta Basu Prasad and Nandish Sandhu among others. It is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
