While Kiara Advani was not launched by Dharma Productions or Karan Johar, the actress has worked in multiple films, including Guilty, Good Newwz and others, under the banner later. Before the release of her newest association with Dharma Productions in Jugjugg Jeeyo, Kiara recalled how it all started during Lust Stories. In the anthology, Kiara plays the key character in Karan’s directorial work. The actress was in Kolkata with Varun Dhawan to promote their next which also features Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and others.
Kiara made her debut with the comedy film Fugly in 2014. Despite playing MS DHoni’s wife in the 2016 sports biopic, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, the actress was not a commercially successful heroine when Karan Johar offered her a role in Netflix’s Lust Stories. While recalling her association with Karan, she said that though she was not launched by the filmmaker, he spotted her way before she was successful. “When he called me I thought he was calling for some party. And he said he called me for a movie and he was to direct it. It was huge for someone like me who has grown up watching his films. It was like a dream come true,” said Kiara.
Later, she worked in Guilty, Good Newwz and Shershaah under the same banner. Now, she will be seen in Jugjugg Jeeyo. She thinks of her association with Karan Johar and Dharma Production as a lucky one as many of the films proved to be box office successes. Explaining this the actress said that their association has been loved by the audience and that got reflected in the box office. “And I hope that this continues,” she said.
Kiara Advani is on a success spree as her last film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 with Kartik Aaryan has been a major hit in 2022 so far.
I think we have been a lucky combination. The films I have done under the banner of Dharma are loved by the audience and we are even loved at the box office. I am hoping for the same with Jugjugg.
Meanwhile, Kiara has worked in Guilty, Good Newwz, Shershaah, and now Jugjugg Jeeyo, after her first work with Karan Johar in Lust Stories. Talking about her journey with Dharma, she said, “I haven’t been launched by them but Karan spotted me when I was not a commercially successful actress. I was still finding my way in the industry. That’s when he spotted me and gave me Lust Stories. He directed me there. When he called me I thought he was calling for some party. And he said he called me for a movie and he was to direct it. It was huge for someone like me who has grown up watching his films. It was like a dream come true.
