A couple of years ago, director R. Chandru laid out a massive canvas for his gangster drama Kabzaa and the project has remained one of the most anticipated ones ever since. With Real Star Upendra headlining the period film and some of the best technicians from the Kannada Film Industry featuring in it, Kabzaa is a mouthwatering prospect for fans as they now keenly look forward to the release of the film.
While one cannot scrap the wait for the release, all the ardent fans can still relish the first teaser of Kabzaa which was dropped very recently amid much fanfare.
And just as hoped, the preliminary glimpses of Kabzaa are nothing short of spectacular as R. Chandru & Co. put together a rather rivetting world that brims with opulence, danger and, of course, a lot of action!
Thanks to Ravi Basrur's superb background score, cinematographer AJ Shetty's stunning visual palette, and art director Shivakumar's most intricately designed set pieces the teaser video of Kabzaa manages to transport the viewer into the make-believe world of gangsters and politicians in a setting that spans many decades - the narrative begins in pre-independent India and then sprawls across multiple decades thereafter.
However, the visuals, the storyworld and the background score of Kabzaa are likely to bear stark resemblance to those of the K.G.F films and some of the comments too alluded to this. From the brooding, grey color palette of the film to the intense background score, fans have pointed out a number of similarities in the two worlds but in the same breath, have also asserted that the storylines of Kabzaa and K.G.F will not match.
And to make things better, Kiccha Sudeep joins the cast of Kabzaa to play a small but crucial role of Bhargav Bakshi. Sporting a handlebar moustache and an overall snazzy look for his period avatar, the Vikrant Rona actor looks in his element in the teaser and fans are particularly enthralled by the prospects of Upendra and Sudeep sharing the screenspace once again.
Shriya Saran, who makes a return to Kannada cinema after a long gap, too shines in the teaser and one would hope to see her play a meaty part in the film, especially in a world that seems bustling with intense male bravado.
