Kamal Haasan is one of the biggest names in Indian cinema and has worked in a number of Indian industries. The multi-talented filmmaker has now shared his thoughts on whether Bollywood is currently doing anything wrong.
As reported by Bollywood Life, Kamal was asked whether Bollywood is doing something wrong compared to the box office numbers of South Indian movies dubbed in Hindi. The actor replied that they are doing nothing wrong.
“"It's like the National Awards, which are given by (a jury of)12 people. But the audience, millions of them, also give awards. The fact that an actor doesn't get a National Award doesn't make him a bad actor. It doesn't make him an actor who is doing something wrong." he said.
The actor added that he (as mentioned above) did not get the right opportunity or producer to do it and that the same goes to a filmmaker when they want to make a film. Proper production, distribution and publicity are all important factors and all these are coalescing with the advance of technology, according to Kamal.
Kamal Haasan also touched upon the South vs North debate while promoting his movie Vikram in the capital. He said that India is a diverse country and that this should be one of our strengths.
The actor’s upcoming action thriller will also be released in Hindi, titled Vikram Hitlist. The movie’s trailers have already been a hit with the fans.
With Kamal in the lead, the movie also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil with Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Chemban Vinod Jose, Antony Varghese and Arjun Das in supporting roles.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vikram is produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International. The movie will hit theatres around the country on June 3.
